The house edge is the same for every bet on a European wheel except where La Partage applies. There is no “best bet” in mathematical terms — your expected value per unit wagered is identical whether you bet straight-up on a single number or red/black on half the wheel. The Lightning Roulette variant
Evolution’s Lightning Roulette is a popular branded variant that adds 2x to 500x multipliers to randomly selected numbers each round. The standard straight-up payout of 35:1 is replaced by a system where most straight-up bets pay 29:1, but a “lightning struck” number pays a multiplier of 50x, 100x, 200x, 300x, 400x, or 500x.
