Revolut Casino Deposits in the UK: What Is Actually Happening When You Pay

The short version
Revolut is not a casino payment method. It is a bank account with a Visa or Mastercard attached, and a cashier showing a Revolut logo means the operator accepts the card Revolut issued you. Nothing about the payment differs from any other card transaction. Almost everything a player needs follows from that:
- The limits are your card’s limits. Revolut does not change what an operator will take.
- A refusal can come from two places — your bank or the casino’s acquirer — and they feel identical in the app.
- A withdrawal returns down the same rail, as a credit to the card that funded the account rather than a payment to wherever you would prefer.
- The in-app gambling block sits above all of it, and is the only part of the chain you control directly.
The same reasoning covers every wallet that is really a card in a costume; our German desk set it out for two of them in Apple Pay und Google Pay im Casino.
Why “revolut casino” grew 555% while the rest of the cluster stood still
The interesting thing about this query is not its size. It is that it moved at all, in a cluster where nothing else did.
| Query (GB) | Searches/month | Change | CPC |
|---|---|---|---|
| pay by mobile casino | 6,600 | 0% | — |
| paypal casino | 2,900 | 0% | $39.46 |

Read the column, not the row. Every established payments query is flat or falling, the withdrawal-speed pair hardest of all. One rose by a factor of six and a half, and it is the name of a bank rather than a payment product. That is substitution, not new appetite: the same people depositing by debit card, now naming the app they hold it in. It also explains the price — at $25.20 the same intent costs a third less than at “paypal casino”.
What the cashier sees: merchant code 7995
Every card transaction carries a merchant category code describing the seller. Gambling has its own, and it is the reason this page exists.
MCC 7995 is titled “Betting, including Lottery Tickets, Casino Gaming Chips, Off-Track Betting and Wagers at Race Tracks”. Visa and Mastercard both treat it as restricted and high-risk: a gambling merchant needs an acquirer willing to underwrite it and a dedicated merchant ID.
Two consequences are the whole mechanism. The transaction is legible as gambling before it reaches your balance — your bank need not guess from the merchant’s name, which is what makes an app-level block possible at all. And the code travels with the merchant, not the game: a deposit to a site that also runs sportsbook and bingo is coded 7995 whatever you play, while a gambling-adjacent business coded as something else walks through a block the player thought was watertight.
Why a Revolut deposit gets declined
Four causes account for nearly all of them.
The gambling block is on — the likeliest reason a card that works everywhere else fails at a cashier. Published accounts describe the toggle as off by default, under the security section of the profile, with a cooling-off delay before switching it off takes effect. We could not verify that against Revolut’s own documentation: help.revolut.com and revolut.com both returned HTTP 403 to automated retrieval on 4 September 2026. Read the toggle in your app, not on a comparison page — this one included.
The card is read as credit. UK operators BIN-check and reject credit cards automatically, for the reason in the next section.
The issuer declined on risk. A first payment to a 7995 merchant, a cross-border acquirer, a new virtual card and a failed 3-D Secure step are ordinary triggers with no gambling policy behind them.
The operator refused you, not your bank. Geo and licence-territory rules are the casino’s, and the error reads like a bank decline.
One test separates that last case from the other three. Look at the Revolut feed. A declined entry means your bank saw the request and said no; nothing at all means it was stopped earlier, and the party to ask is the operator.
Credit cards, and the rule you cannot route around
The Gambling Commission announced the ban on 14 January 2020; it took effect on 14 April 2020 as licence condition 6.1.2, covering all remote gambling and non-remote betting, with non-remote lottery the exception.
The part most often missed is that it reaches past the card. Licensees must not accept credit-card payment including through a money service business, and are expected to satisfy themselves that money arriving from a wallet was not loaded from credit. Topping up a balance with a credit card and depositing from it is the substitution the rule exists to close; that each step succeeds is not evidence it is permitted. The same logic makes buy-now-pay-later a dead end — our DACH desk found gambling on the prohibited list in Klarna’s own contract terms, before any casino gets a say.
Debit is unaffected: see Visa Debit casinos UK, or Open Banking casino deposits for the rail that skips cards entirely.
Withdrawals come back the way they went out
Casino payouts to a card are not bank transfers. They are credits pushed back onto the card that funded the account — an Original Credit Transaction on Visa, a Payment Transaction on Mastercard.
The routing is not a courtesy. Returning funds to source is how an operator evidences it has not been used to move money between unrelated accounts, and three things follow. Deposit from Revolut, get paid to Revolut — nominating another bank means verifying it first, and may be refused up to the amount deposited. A closed card breaks the route: if the funding card was frozen or replaced in between, the credit can fail and the payout drops into a manual process, the slowest path any operator has. And switching rails does not reset the rule — a crypto or wallet payout rarely releases the source-return obligation on the deposited portion.
Revolut as the account that receives the money
Two questions matter here, and neither is about speed.
Which entity holds your money. Revolut has operated as an electronic money institution, Revolut Ltd, and as a bank, Revolut Bank UK Ltd. Reporting we checked on 4 September 2026 has the bank granted a UK licence with restrictions in 2024, those lifted in March 2026, customers migrating off the e-money entity over the following months. The distinction is not cosmetic: deposits at a UK bank are protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme up to £120,000 per eligible person per firm, raised from £85,000 on 1 December 2025 (FSCS, retrieved 4 September 2026). E-money is safeguarded, which is a different promise.
What an unusual inbound pattern looks like from the inside. A quiet account that suddenly takes several casino credits is the shape automated monitoring exists to flag, and a review can freeze the balance while it runs. Players under-price this: a freeze is worse than a slow payout, because it takes the rest of your money with it. The answer is separation — the account your rent leaves from should not be the account your gambling runs through.
”Instant” at the operator and “instant” at the bank
The two words measure different things, and the gap is where complaints are born. At an operator, “instant withdrawal” describes the approval of a request: no pending period, no manual queue. At a bank it describes availability of funds. A payout can be approved in seconds and take days to appear.
Revolut surfaces incoming card credits quickly. The operator’s approval step — verification, weekend staffing, manual review of a first large withdrawal — decides when you are actually paid. That is why “instant withdrawal casino” fell 39% above while the complaint underneath it went nowhere.
Where Bananzia fits
Bananzia is our commercial partner, so treat this as facts to check rather than a recommendation. All of it is quoted from the operator’s own documents, recorded in our Bananzia review on 9 August 2026.
Revolut is one of twelve methods listed in its footer, alongside Visa, Mastercard, Skrill, Apple Pay, Google Pay and six cryptocurrencies. What the cashier offers a UK-registered account we could not confirm; that needs an account we did not open.
The licence excludes the United Kingdom. The site is operated by Win Top Ltd, registered in Anjouan under company number 16122, holding licence ALSI-202509029-FI1. That permit lists the United Kingdom among its excluded territories and the operator’s own terms keep the UK restricted; for a British reader this outranks every other fact here. It also puts the site outside GAMSTOP — if you have self-excluded, read GAMSTOP explained first.
On timing, clause 15 states payout requests are processed “within three (3) business days” — a ceiling, not a measured average. The VIP terms separately quote targets “ranging from twenty-four (24) hours to one (1) hour”, calling them estimates only.
On money in, the £25 widely repeated as a minimum deposit is the qualifying deposit for the welcome offer; the terms say the real minimum depends on the method and appears when you choose it. Every deposit, bonus or not, carries a 3× playthrough before connected funds can be withdrawn, and identity checks become mandatory once cumulative deposits pass EUR 2,000, or on any withdrawal request.
What we could not establish: the default state and cooling-off length of Revolut’s gambling block, which entity a given reader sits with, whether Revolut appears in Bananzia’s cashier for a UK account, and any measured payout time to a Revolut card.
Frequently asked questions
Is Revolut a payment method at online casinos?
Not in the sense the phrase implies. Revolut issues Visa and Mastercard debit cards, and a casino that “accepts Revolut” accepts the card it issued you. The transaction is an ordinary card payment coded as gambling under merchant category code 7995, governed by your card’s limits and your issuer’s risk rules.
Why was my Revolut casino deposit declined?
Usually the in-app gambling block, a card read as credit, an issuer risk decline, or the casino refusing you on licence-territory grounds. The Revolut feed tells them apart: a declined entry means the request reached your bank; no entry at all means it was stopped before it got there.
Can I turn the gambling block off straight away?
Published accounts describe a cooling-off delay before switching it off takes effect, which is the point of it. We could not verify the length against Revolut’s own documentation: its help centre refused automated access on 4 September 2026. Read the wording in your app.
Will my withdrawal come back to Revolut?
If you deposited from a Revolut card, normally yes. Payouts are pushed back to the funding card as a scheme credit, because returning funds to source is how an operator evidences it has not moved money between unrelated accounts. Redirecting one elsewhere means verifying that account first.
