Affiliate disclosure: GambleDragon earns commission when a reader signs up via a tracked link. Only one operator on this page — Britsino, our featured partner — carries a tracked link. Every other entry is coverage-only. The rank order is the minimum-deposit order, calculated before any commercial consideration. See how we make money.
Quick answer, including the part most pages leave out
The lowest minimum deposit in the GambleDragon operator index is £10, and six operators share it. We do not have a £1, £3 or £5 casino in our index, and we are not going to invent one to match a search term.
That matters, because “£1 deposit casino” is one of the fastest-growing UK casino queries we track: a median of 1,300 searches per month over the last twelve months, up roughly 69% comparing the most recent three months against the oldest three (GambleDragon analysis of UK Google Ads keyword data, 1 August 2026, medians of the monthly series). “£5 deposit casino” runs at a median of 880 per month, up about 54%.
Where those sub-£10 deposits genuinely exist in the UK market is narrower than the search volume suggests: bingo-led brands, pay-by-mobile funded accounts, and slot sites that use a £1 entry as an acquisition hook. What they very rarely do is qualify you for anything. Read the next section before you optimise for the wrong number.
The £10 wall, and why it exists
Three structural reasons the UK floor sits at £10 rather than £1:
- Bonus qualification is set at £10 almost everywhere. A welcome offer with a “minimum qualifying deposit £10” line is the norm. Deposit £5 and you have not bought a cheaper entry to the promotion — you have opted out of it. The promotion is usually the reason people wanted the low deposit in the first place.
- Per-transaction cost. Card, e-wallet and open-banking rails all carry a fixed component per transaction. On a £1 deposit that component is a meaningful share of the deposit. Operators price the floor where the payment economics stop being negative.
- Verification does not get cheaper. Every UK Gambling Commission licensee runs the same identity checks on a £1 account as on a £500 one. The compliance cost per account is flat; the deposit is not.
There is a fourth reason that is new in this cycle and rarely mentioned. Since 9 April 2025 the maximum stake on an online slot is £5 per spin, and since 21 May 2025 it is £2 per spin for players aged 18 to 24, under the Gambling Act 2005 (Operating Licence Conditions) (Amendment) Regulations 2025 (Gambling Commission guidance). A £5 deposit is now, at maximum stake, a single spin for an adult over 25 and two and a half spins for a 22-year-old. The low-deposit proposition looks different once the stake ceiling is in the same order of magnitude as the deposit.

CasinoK is Malta-licensed and therefore outside GAMSTOP — if you have self-excluded, do not deposit there. Verify any licence on the Commission’s public register before depositing.
Featured partner — Britsino
Britsino sits in the joint-first band because £10 is the floor across seven UKGC licensees we track, and it does not beat them on that number. It cannot: they are identical.
Where it does lead this page’s criterion is the second half of the question. A minimum deposit is only useful if you can actually make it by the method you have. Britsino supports seven payment methods — the widest stack of any UKGC licensee in our index — including Open Banking, PayPal and Apple Pay alongside cards, Skrill and Trustly (GambleDragon operator index, 2 August 2026). Highbet, also at £10, supports four. If your constraint is “I want to put £10 in from the account I actually use”, breadth is the variable that moves, not the threshold.
Two honest caveats. Britsino’s stated 6.0-hour median payout is mid-table, not market-leading — Cosmobet states 4.2 hours and we say so on our fastest withdrawal page. And Britsino does not support Paysafecard, so if prepaid vouchers are how you intend to fund a small deposit, it is not the site for you; see our Paysafecard guide. Read the full Britsino review →
Where sub-£10 deposits actually live
We would rather describe this market accurately than pretend our index covers it.
Pay by mobile. Charging a deposit to a phone bill or prepaid credit is the one rail where £3 and £5 entries are genuinely common, because the carrier billing minimum is low and the operator is not paying card-scheme costs. The trade-off is structural and unavoidable: a phone bill cannot receive a withdrawal. You will have to nominate and verify a second method before you can be paid. Our pay by mobile guide covers what that means in practice.
Bingo-led brands. Much of the visible “£1 deposit” inventory in UK search results is bingo networks rather than casinos, where a £1 entry buys a ticket rather than a slot session. That is a different product with different maths.
Slot sites using £1 as an acquisition hook. These exist, and the deposit is real. What is usually not real is the implication that the welcome offer scales down with it. Check the qualifying-deposit line in the bonus terms before you deposit, not after.
What to check before optimising for the lowest number
- The qualifying deposit for the bonus, not the minimum deposit for the account. They are two different lines in the terms and they are frequently different amounts.
- The minimum withdrawal. Several operators set a floor — commonly £10 or £20 — below which you cannot cash out at all. Depositing £5, running it to £8 and finding it stranded is a bad afternoon.
- Whether your rail can receive money. Cards, PayPal, Open Banking, Trustly and Skrill can. Phone billing, Apple Pay and prepaid vouchers cannot. The same-account rule means the return path usually has to match the deposit path, and where it cannot, you verify a second method.
- Dormancy and fee terms. Small balances left alone are the ones that meet inactivity fees.
- Whether the offer is already spent inside the group. If you have claimed a welcome bonus at a brand run by the same licensee, a second claim is usually void — see casino sister sites.
- Whether a “no wagering” alternative is genuinely better value at the size of deposit you have in mind. Often it is; the catch is usually a cash-out cap rather than a multiple, and we work through the maths in no wagering casino bonuses.
- Deposit limits, set on day one. Every UKGC licensee must let you set them. A low first deposit is not a limit; a limit is a limit.
The regulatory backdrop
Two figures with dates, for scale. The Gambling Commission put the total British gambling market at £16.8 billion in gross gambling yield for April 2024 to March 2025, published November 2025. And 47% of adults reported gambling in the past four weeks in the Commission’s participation research covering January 2025 to January 2026, released 16 July 2026 (Gambling Commission statistics and research).
Two rules shape everything on this page. Gambling with a credit card has been banned in Great Britain since 14 April 2020, which is why every entry above lists Visa Debit and not credit cards — you cannot borrow your way to a deposit of any size. And GAMSTOP integration has been mandatory for UKGC remote licensees since 31 March 2020, which is the line between the seven UKGC entries above and the Malta-licensed one. If you have self-excluded, GAMSTOP covers the former and not the latter; we explain the scheme in detail in GAMSTOP explained.
How we ranked these casinos
Rank order is the operator-stated minimum first deposit, ascending, with ties left as ties rather than broken by anything we would prefer. Where operators are level we list UKGC licensees above non-UKGC ones and otherwise keep the order stable. Nothing else feeds the order — not rating, not bonus size, not our commercial relationship with Britsino. Full rubric: methodology and editorial policy.
Frequently asked questions
What is the lowest deposit casino in the UK?
In the GambleDragon operator index the floor is £10, shared by seven UK Gambling Commission licensees including Britsino, Cosmobet, BetVictor, NetBet, Mr Green, Highbet and BoyleSports. Genuine £1, £3 and £5 deposits do exist in the wider UK market, mostly on bingo-led brands and pay-by-mobile funded accounts, but they are not in our index and we do not rank operators we have not assessed.
Can I claim a welcome bonus with a £5 deposit?
Usually not. The qualifying deposit for a UK welcome offer is typically £10, which is a separate line in the terms from the account minimum deposit. A £5 deposit at a site with a £1 minimum is a valid deposit and an invalid bonus claim. Read the qualifying-deposit line before depositing, because operators very rarely apply a bonus retrospectively.
Why do so many UK casinos stop at £10?
Because the fixed costs do not scale down. Payment rails carry a per-transaction component, and identity verification under the Commission’s licence conditions costs the same on a £1 account as on a £500 one. £10 is roughly where those costs stop outweighing the deposit. The bonus threshold then reinforces it, since the promotion most players want is written against the same number.
Does a small deposit reduce how much I can lose?
Only for that transaction. The tool that actually caps exposure is a deposit limit, which every UK Gambling Commission licensee must offer and which you can set at account opening. Since 9 April 2025 there is also a hard ceiling on online slot stakes of £5 per spin, and £2 per spin for players aged 18 to 24 since 21 May 2025, but that limits the stake, not the total.
Can I withdraw a £5 balance?
Not always. Many operators set a minimum withdrawal, commonly £10 or £20, below which a cash-out request will not process. Check that figure at the same time as the deposit minimum. If you funded the account by a method that cannot receive money — phone bill, Apple Pay, prepaid voucher — you will also need to nominate and verify a second payment method before anything can be paid out.
Is a £1 deposit casino safe?
The deposit size tells you nothing about safety; the licence does. Check the operator on the Gambling Commission’s public register, confirm it integrates GAMSTOP, and read the withdrawal terms. A £1 entry at a UKGC licensee carries the same consumer protections as a £100 entry at the same site. A £1 entry at an offshore brand carries none of them regardless of how small the deposit was.
